After seeing the finished work, he questions whether its quality reflects the amount of public money invested and orders a forensic audit.

The August 2026 inspection came amid a wider government crackdown on questionable public projects across Uganda. Barugahara’s nationwide monitoring campaign has led to officials being investigated, interdicted or arrested over alleged corruption, poor supervision and misuse of public funds.
