Robert’s Rebellion—also known as the War of the Usurper—is the foundational civil war in George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire (and HBO's Game of Thrones). Occurring roughly 15 years before the main story begins, it brought a violent end to nearly 300 years of Targaryen rule in Westeros and seated Robert Baratheon on the Iron Throne.
